Rs 50 Notes Signed by New RBI Governor is Coming Soon

Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to release Rs 50 denominated banknotes duly signed by newly appointed Governor Sanjay Malhotra

The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) is set to release Rs 50 denominated banknotes duly signed by newly appointed Governor Sanjay Malhotra, the central bank said today.

RBI stated, “The design of these notes is similar in all respects to Rs 50 banknotes in Mahatma Gandhi (New) Series. All banknotes in the denomination of Rs 50 issued by the Reserve Bank in the past will continue to be legal tender.”

Malhotra, a 56-year-old civil servant, succeeded Shaktikanta Das, as the 26th Governor of the Reserve Bank of India on December 11, 2024. Prior to this role, he succeeded as India’s Revenue Secretary.
